We are proud to announce that Colas Rail UK has achieved Clear Assured Bronze accreditation, a significant milestone that recognises our commitment to building a more inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.

This achievement reflects the progress we have made in embedding equity, diversity and inclusion across our business. Following a detailed assessment process, Clear Assured recognised the strong foundations already in place at Colas Rail, alongside the evidence of our commitment to creating fair and inclusive opportunities for current and future colleagues.

Achieving the Bronze accreditation demonstrates that we are taking meaningful action to ensure our policies, processes and workplace culture support diversity, inclusion and belonging. It also reinforces our ambition to attract, develop and retain talent from all backgrounds while creating an environment where everyone feels valued, respected and able to contribute their best.

A Recognition of Team Effort

This success would not have been possible without the dedication and collaboration of colleagues from across the business who contributed their time, expertise and commitment throughout the assessment process.

Their efforts demonstrate the very best of Colas Rail and our shared belief that inclusion is everyone’s responsibility.

Living By Our Values Every Day

The achievement aligns closely with the values that define who we are as a business.

Respect – by creating an environment where every colleague feels valued, heard and treated fairly.

Commitment – by taking tangible action to strengthen equity, diversity and inclusion across our organisation.

Pioneering – by challenging ourselves to continue to improve, embracing new ideas and setting higher standards for inclusive practices.

Sharing – by learning from one another, exchanging knowledge and creating opportunities for everyone to succeed together. These values underpin Colas Rail’s approach to diversity and inclusion and are central to how we operate every day.

A Message from Our CEO, Jean-Pierre Bertrand

“Achieving the Clear Assured Bronze accreditation is an important milestone for Colas Rail UK and reflects the hard work and dedication of many colleagues across our business. We believe that a diverse and inclusive workforce makes us stronger, brings fresh perspectives and helps us deliver better outcomes for our people, customers and communities.

“While we are proud of this achievement, we are equally focused on what comes next as we continue our journey towards creating an even more inclusive workplace for all.”

Echoing Jean-Pierre, The Clear Company Managing Consultant, Khadija Lewis said:

“We’d like to offer huge congratulations to Colas Rail UK for achieving Clear Assured Bronze accreditation. The team showed a commitment to embedding diversity and inclusion practices and cultures across the business, underpinned by clear evidence and accountability.

“We were particularly impressed by the focus on inclusive recruitment and people practices, including accessible processes and meaningful awareness initiatives that support an inclusive culture. We have seen a willingness and passion to build on the strong foundations already in place, and we’re delighted to be working with the team as they continue their journey to achieve Silver accreditation.”

Looking Ahead

While we celebrate this achievement, we recognise that inclusion is a continuous journey rather than a destination.

As part of our commitment to further improvement, we are already progressing actions that will support our next stage of accreditation, by focusing on neuroinclusion and raising awareness of menopause and andropause and continuing to build on the inclusive foundations that have helped us achieve Bronze status.

Our ambition is clear: to continue raising the bar, learn from best practice and progress towards Silver accreditation and beyond.

This recognition is an important milestone, but it is only the beginning. Together, we will continue to build a workplace where everyone feels they belong, can develop their potential and contribute to the future success of Colas Rail.

Congratulations and thank you to everyone who played a part in achieving this award!
