During the Christmas period, the South Rail Systems Alliance (SRSA) Anglia division undertook a weeklong multidisciplinary blockade in the village of Foxton, Cambridgeshire.

Across this week, the team meticulously planned and delivered a comprehensive programme of works including:

  • The installation of 4 Point Ends
  • A New Fixed Buffer Stop
  • OLE adjustments
  • 100m of coper stone adjustments
  • Installed 2 New Ground Signals with associated troughing.
  • Refurbishing the level and pedestrian crossing
  • 728m of track renewals
  • 212m track rerailed
  • Removal of two wet bed locations to assist the maintainer and client
  • Welding and stressing the whole track

The team also renewed the level and pedestrian crossings, with the level crossing spanning 20m in width and situated on a busy section of the A10.

Utilising our trusted supply chain, the S&C and other track panels were installed with the assistance of Readypower’s Superbug 300 Road Rail Vehicle (RRV) fleet, while the track was finalised with the help of two of our own Tamper fleet.

To mitigate waste on site, our team utilised repurposed sleepers for the upgrade of the sidings.

Prior to the Christmas blockade, our Anglia team arranged two weekend blockades throughout 2024 to complete 2636m of track rerailing to ensure the track remains at the highest level to continue to put the passenger first.

Christmas in the rail industry is one of the busiest periods in the calendar and our Anglia division were busy completing drainage works at Kensal Rise, jetting 35 catch pits in anticipation of Christmas 2025’s possession programme.

Team Anglia also delivered 1072m of rerailing on the Baylham to Needham Market line, handing back the site with a 100mph line speed and undertook surveys for upcoming projects in the 2025 calendar.
